That's brilliant, i'm glad you had fun, i'm glad you got a lot out of it. You've taken the stance that my feelings are invalid because you had a lot of fun in the PoF zones running around doing whatever it is you do. This kind of reply always seems very obnoxious to me. I only ever do Serpent's Ire via free-teleport from Spearmarshal's Plea <3 Last time I failed Serpent's Ire, it was pretty chill, because it was a guild run and I knew going into it that we wouldn't have enough people the commander hadn't run Ire before so they didn't anticipate all the coordination needed. And putting a visible chest behind it would make sure that pretty much everyone would go and do it. Obviously the thing just melts without cc but it would be a really nice teaching opportunity.īut yeah, I think something similar to the dodge-teacher would be the best way to go about it. Speaking of tutorials, though, that reminds me - every time I keyfarm on human, I see the "boss" centaur and its stupid breakbar and get really angry that ANET PLS WHY YOU GIVE US BREAKBAR BEFORE WE HAVE ANY CC SKILLS That would be a prime opportunity for rework into a cc tutorial. It's completely useless to me as an elementalist, and I'd hazard a guess that it's not even useful to the classes that use shields. That reminds me of the super lame Queensdale heart with rifles, shields, and swords for training. So, something in each race's intro zone where you've got a thing with a breakbar and an Event (not a heart, a repeatable Event that's up like, all the time) and an NPC explains what the various soft and hard CC conditions are (eg, fear, daze, etc), and maybe even force-equips a skill dependent on your class (with a very obvious THIS IS JUST ~ONE~ OF THE MANY CC SKILLS YOUR CLASS HAS!!!!)īut in a way that's not "You fail the entire map and everyone in the meta is pissed, also this is way off in a part of the map that most people don't visit because it is a horrible lightning-choked crystal deathtrap of hate."Īgreed on the tutorial. ESO has one for its interrupt mechanics (which are as essential to that game as breakbars are for this one - and almost as annoying to get players to remember, even though the mechanic is simpler AND there's a tutorial!) in the intro quest, where you get a skeleton with a very obvious attack that must be blocked & a tooltip that's like PRESS THIS TO BLOCK, then a skeleton with a very obvious attack to interrupt with PRESS THIS TO INTERRUPT, and finally a skeleton with an AoE that has PRESS THIS TO DODGE. I really think the game needs some kind of proper telegraph tutorial for breakbars and CC, kind of like how we got for dodge rolling in the intro zones.

To be fair, I also play an Engineer, and our gameplay style is basically "Screaming and button mashing" (even for Holos) :PĪnd yeah I suppose that's fair.
